Unstable greenhouse temperatures can stress plants, waste electricity, and make frost protection harder to manage.

Automatic Heating and Cooling Control for Year-Round Growing

The Bio Green Thermo2 is a digital greenhouse thermostat designed to control heaters, fans, ventilation systems, and heating cables automatically. It helps keep your greenhouse, grow room, or propagation area within your chosen temperature range, so you do not need to keep adjusting equipment by hand.

At £49.99, it is a practical plug and play greenhouse thermostat UK growers can use for frost protection in winter, cooling support in summer, and steady propagation temperatures all year round.

Key Benefits

  • Controls up to 3000W of equipment, making it suitable for many greenhouse heaters, fans, heat mats, and heating cables.
  • Wide -50°C to +99°C temperature range gives flexible control for overwintering, propagation, storage, and summer ventilation.
  • Dual heating and cooling function lets you manage both winter warmth and summer airflow from one controller.
  • 2.8m sensor cable allows more accurate readings from the area where your plants actually sit.
  • Energy-saving automatic switching helps reduce wasted power by activating connected equipment only when needed.

Who It’s For

✓ Greenhouse owners needing a temperature controller for greenhouse heater use
✓ Indoor gardeners and grow room users managing temperature-sensitive plants
✓ Propagation growers needing a digital thermostat for propagation heat mats
✓ Seasonal growers asking how to control greenhouse temperature automatically

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is this the best digital greenhouse thermostat UK growers can use?
It is a strong choice if you need automatic control for heaters, fans, heating cables, or propagation equipment up to 3000W.
  2. Will it work with my greenhouse heater?
Yes, provided your heater is compatible and does not exceed the 3000W capacity. Always check the wattage of your connected device first.
  3. Can it control cooling as well as heating?
Yes. It works as a greenhouse heating and cooling thermostat, so it can help manage heaters in winter and fans or ventilation in warmer months.
  4. Will it help reduce running costs?
Yes. As an energy saving thermostat for greenhouse use, it switches equipment on only when needed, helping avoid unnecessary power use.
  5. Is it easy to install?
Yes. It is plug-and-play: connect it between your device and power source, place the sensor, set your target temperature, and use.

Instruction Book Wrong

Works well but the instruction booklet is incorrect. Had to look on net to figure out how to set temps. Once you have set the temp you have to press C/H & down button for unit to record your set temps - it doesn't record it automatically as it says in book.

WORTH THE CASH

Found the Thermostat very accurate and quick to respond to change. It replaced an inaccurate £24 job that cost me a fortune in energy last year. My power bill is about 66% less, but I have made other changes ,i.e . later start. Along with a Min/Max Thermometer, it kept the Greenhouse from 9.5% to 12% overnight , I also use a power monitor to see costs . A lot of other reviews say not easy to set up or understand instructions , I would disagree with these quotes. It costs a bit of money but you get Quality and peace of mind. which is priceless

Spring protection for frost tender crops in a greenhouse or tunnel.

Well made unit and relatively simple to set up, so long as you don't lose the instructions. I bought this to control the Infra red lighting in my poly-tunnels that protect early planted tomato plants from frost whilst we are away on holiday. It's much better and more accurate than some I have come across over the years and I'm happy to recommend it.

Disappointing Life Span for a Premium priced piece of kit!

I bought this unit to replace my ole Parasene mechanical thermostat that failed after 20 years service. The Bio Green uses modern electronics and is easy to install, however like much electronic stuff it fails to past the test of robustness in the garden. It failed after only 4 years and 6 months use. Very disappointing for a premium priced product. Replaced it with one for half the price on the basis I can afford to have the new unit fail twice (outside the gaurantee period) and still be a few quid ahead.

Heavy duty, but poor instructions

Bought one of these to control temperature within a grow room.On the plus side, this is a heavy duty piece of kit that looks very well made. But, as others have noted, it is let down rather badly by the dreadful instructions. I used trial and error coupled with other people's experiences as given in the other Amazon reviews here to work out what I was doing. If this had better instructions (in English) with a clear explanation of the lights and functioning etc then I would have given this 5 stars, as would most other users I think.

Value for money

Easy to use when the instructions are followed

Seems to be quite robustly built. Easy to use when the instructions are followed. A good length of cable is provided for the temperature sensor which allows it to be placed in a variety of locations away from the main unit. My main gripe with this product is the very short power cable that comes with it. Given that it is most likely to be used in greenhouses/sheds, etc where there isn't exactly lots of wall sockets to chose from, it really hinders the placement of this thermostat. Why can't manufacturers just provide a decent length of power cable rather than making users resort to extension leads all the time?

Accurate and easy to use thermostat

Easy to set up with a reasonable length remote sensor cable although a little more would be nice.I use this in my Orchid house for running a heater. Set the heater thermostat as high as it will go and plug it in. Far more accurate than heater thermostat and it enables me to place the heater low to the ground but sense the temperature at bench height. The differential setting ensures not too much cycling occurs.Easy to turn on and off. Seems to store settings after power cuts. Great bit of kit!

A bit too basic for the money

The unit is of industrial standard. However, one major design defect, there is no over ride switch to allow you to turn your applaince, instead you have to unplug your heater from the unit, unplug the unit from the mains and then plug your heater into the mains.Alternative is to reset the temperature to a lower one, good luck, it can be frustrating to do.I bought the unit to maintain the temperature in my conservatory, as be have a number of exotic plants and want to maintain a minimum temperature, and when we want to use the conservatory we need to boost the minimum temperature. The unit is ideal as a frost protector, say for a green house, or for when we are away to maintain a minimum temperature in the conservatory, but limited otherwise.

Pity about the instruction manual!

Just took delivery of a second Biogreen Thermo 2, having set up and used (successfully) the first one since November 2013. Both used to control heating in greenhouse - original for space heater and new one for soil-warming cable. Set up the new one exactly according to the instructions that came with it, only to find it would not store the set temperature (set at 20 deg C) but immediately defaulted to 10 deg C. Then I discovered that the instructions for setting the required temperature (page 12 of booklet) on the new one were wrong. These instructions said "Press the up or down button briefly to switch to setting mode. - - - Using the Up and down buttons you can change the temperature in 1 deg C steps. After you have set a new temperature it is saved automatically and the menu closes after 3 seconds." This did not work! However, as I had another, 16 month old unit I checked the instruction manual and found the setting instructions were very different - online were the same as the older ones and said: "Press the down button for 3 seconds to reach the setting mode. - - - Using the Up and down buttons you can change the temperature in 1 deg C steps. To store the selected temperature press the 'C/H' and down buttons simultaneously, (within 10 seconds, otherwise the set value will not be recorded)."The older instructions worked. Not too clever, sending out the wrong instructions but apart from this, they seem to be very good functional thermostats - that's why I bought the second one.

Nice piece of equipment

Nice piece of equipment, I bought this for my new greenhouse and have never tested it in there yet as I haven't installed the electrics yet. I have however tested it's accuracy indoors. I have to say it's display reads 1 degree C too high - this did not surprise me as I had several thermometers in the same room and they ALL varied as to the real temperature. It is nice to look at and easy to set. Do not loose your instruction book however. It has a 'Cooling'/'Heating mode, ie It will switch only the fan on when your greenhouse gets too hot as well as the heating element in winter - Very useful. Probably one of the best on the market in my view at that price level.
